Jazzie Williams, Just a Girl.. Born August 5th 1982 in the village of Cottingham, approximately seven miles out of the city centre of Hull. Brought up by single mum Glynis and spending her whole life in a girl powered environment along with her big sister Leanne.

“Growing up was pretty tough for me and it hit rock bottom when I got to high school. I found I stood out as an individual and never really fitted in anywhere, wanting to be anywhere but in a classroom. My head was in fantasy land of better things and my heart was in music and dancing.. At the age of twelve I found myself jotting words and  rhymes down on scraps of paper to express my difficult experiences and feelings inside as I was getting bullied at that time and finding adolescence a real struggle”

In late August 1996, Jaz got her first poem accepted for publication and in 1997, at the age of fourteen, her poem Restless Night was published by POETRY NOW in the book poetry now yorkshire.

“I have a string of poetry publications behind me which I am very proud of as every one tells a story of that time and what i went through and hopefully I’ll have a book of my own work to be finished very soon. I am hoping to be able to put them all together in a collection called Love Strength Spirit Heart & Mind”

Hiding away in her imagination, Jaz found that writing came naturally to her and at the age of sixteen she began to write short stories in between performing at college, fashion shows, displays and competitions as a dancer and baton twirler. Dancing was always her main passion but at the age of twenty three, just when growing up seemed to have got easier and life was pretty smooth and some what normal, Jaz was diagnosed with a condition called M.E. - unfortunately, from that moment on her dancing days were over and dreams were shattered but a whole new experience for this girl began.

“Just a Girl is one of the most important things in my life because everything written in there is true life and more importantly.. it was my life! and I treasure the memories and experiences throughout it that brought me to this point right now. I guess it’s like I’ve always believed, everything happens for a reason”

Jaz is currently working on some new material for furute publication and hopes to have a follow up to Just a Girl in the very near future.

“Things just keep going and the story just continues, the aftermath if you will of a very tough and challenging time. I wanted to do this not only for myself but for others out there that have suffered anything in this book, however small and to prove that life does go on and to never stop believing in dreams! Dancing will always be the passion in my heart but writing is something I’m going to enjoy making a future of…”

This Girl will be back!
